During a routine car inspection, police in Tumbes (northern Peru) discovered the former president of Ecuador, Lucio Gutierrez. Gutierrez was detected with his brother Gilmar and his former administration secretary Fausto Cobo.
The Peruvian Police couldn’t hold him back as he hasn’t committed any crime in Peru and no international capture order has been filled against him. He is now at the Punta Sal Resort in Tumbes where Ecuadorian and Peruvian police keeps him under surveillance to avoid his escape.
Gutierrez was dismissed as president by the citizens of Ecuador and is now accused for alleged crimes, which included ordering violent action against the protesters in the days before he was forced out of office.
