President Alejandro Toledo announced that he will address the nation with a special message today, four days ahead of the second round election and during an intense climate of insults and accusations between followers of candidates Alan Garcia and Ollanta Humala.
Although the content of the message is unknown, one can imagine that he will refer to the electoral subject.
Toledo said in his announcement that whoever will sit in the presidential chair on July 28, he should not be led by short term temptations of turning aside the route of development defined by the National Agreement (Acuerdo Nacional).
He pleaded for the next president not to suspend the economic policies initiated and executed under his management.
He also assured that he will continue his work defending and protecting the democracy after leaving the presidential office.
