Illegal Peruvian immigrants in Chile rose by 94,000 in 2005

Chilean Immigration officials and international police sources informed that in 2005, 94,046 Peruvians were registered of entering the country and stayed illegally, according to today’s  Chilean newspaper edition of ""El Mercurio". ( – link to the article – )

According to the report, 1.172.539 Peruvians entered Chile last year but only 1.078.493 returned to Peru.

Police investigators from the Chilean border town Arica projected that this number will increase to 104.000 this year.
