Peru expresses its condolences following death of Ecuadorian Defense Minister

Ecuadorian Defense Minister Guadalupe Larriva perished in a helicopter accident along with her daughter and 5 members from Ecuador’s military forces.

(LIP-jl) — Peruvian President Alan Garcia sent his condolences to his Ecuadorian counterpart, President Rafael Correa, following the death of Ecuador’s Defense Minister, Guadalupe Larriva yesterday.

Larriva died during a military night-fire training exercise when the helicopter she was riding in collided with another helicopter. Also killed in the accident were Larriva’s daughter, and 5 members of the Ecuadorian military.

Garcia expressed his "deepest and sincerest condolences for the tragic death of the Ecuadorian Defense Minister after this lamentable accident," read an official communication released by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The release was sent to President Correa and to all of the Ecuadorian people on behalf of the Peruvian President and the entire population of Peru," added a representative from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
