(LIP-jl) — Once again, riots erupted in a Peruvian prison leaving 3 inmates dead and at least 5 seriously injured.

The riot occurred at the Pocollay Prison located in the southern Peruvian city of Tacna.

Daniel Jauresui Huaman (28), from the Peruvian jungle city of Tocache, was the only dead inmate to be identified in initial reports.

According to reports, the inmates were protesting for better treatment from abusive authorities and an adequate food program.

The violence took place when negotiations between representatives from the Peruvian National Penitentiary Institute and the prisoners fell apart.

Last Sunday, 2 prisoners died after violence erupted between inmates at the Miguel Castro Castro Penitentiary located in the Limean district of San Juan de Lurigancho.
