(LIP-jl) — Agents from Peru’s Customs Department and the Peruvian National Police made a major dent in the drug trade yesterday when they seized an astounding 420 kilograms of pure cocaine in a warehouse located near Jorge Chavez International Airport, in the port city of Callao.

Agents moved in on a warehouse belonging to air-cargo company Talma based on a tip from an anonymous source . Authorities found the cocaine hidden in containers and jars labeled as containing soy, maca, and other natural products.

Authorities reported that the originating sender was a company named Arca de Noe (Noa’s Arc) SAC, based in Pacasmayo, in the northern Peruvian province of La Libertad. Arca De Noa has been operating in Peru since May 2005, selling raw materials and agricultural products to overseas firms.

According to authorities, the cocaine was going to be sent to the middle eastern country of Jordan.

Spokesmen from the Peruvian National Police stated that this is the first time they have seized such a large quantity of drugs that were heading to Jordan.
