(LIP-jl) (RPP) — Two foreigners were abducted in two separate incidents on Tuesday night on Lima’s Costa Verde Highway.
Armed men kidnapped Chilean citizen Cristian Sulfano (38), an executive from Chois Equipos, for approximately 3 hours.
The kidnappers released Sulfano after taking him to various ATM machines and forcing him to empty his bank accounts.
In a separate incident, an unidentified Argentinian woman, who had just arrived in Peru last night, took a taxi from Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport to the southern Limean district of Chorillos.
While traveling on the Costa Verde Highway, the taxi was intercepted by armed men. Two men forced the woman out of the taxi and into their vehicle without firing one shot. The woman remains missing.
Miraflores Mayor Manuel Masias informed that the Argentinian citizen was on her way to a hotel in Chorillos.
However, authorities have begun to suspect the taxi driver was involved in the kidnapping due to many inconsistencies in his story.
