TQ Producciones, always conscious about existing musical talent in Peru as well as the necessity to support the development of young promises, announces the beginning of its 2007 classical season with the charitable concert “A Night of Opera”, set to take place this May 17 at the Santa Ursula School Auditorium.
This event is part of a joint effort between TQ Producciones, Columbia Artist Management of New York, and the Manhattan School of Music. “A night of Opera” will be performed by five extraordinary young lyrical singers, all graduates from this prestigious music school, and with the presence of Mr. Tobías Tumarkin Vice President of Columbia Artist Management (CAMI)
Through its efforts in assuming an important role in the support of musical development in Peru, the production company has created the fund “TQ Producciones for Musical Education”, which will kick off with the Opera Night concert and will be extended to the forthcoming T Q Producciones annual seasons.
Aside from reserving a special space for 50 students of song from different schools, TQ Producciones will designate a percentage of ticket sales to create advanced classes instructed by teachers from the Manhattan School of Music throughout the year.
Scheduled to perform in “One Opera Night “ are: soprano Valentina Fleer (Russia), the baritone Drew Santini (Canada) and tenors Jonathan Tuzo (USA), and Jon-Michael Ball (USA).
The program includes operas by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Donizetti, and Gounod among others. The Camera Orchestra “Ciudad de los Reyes” will lend their talents to accompany the performers, with Croatian Ivan Kundiecevic as the artistic director and Rumanian master Lazlo Benedek as the as the concertino.
