Peru’s surfing queen nominated by U.S. awards show

Will it be another award for Peru’s most successful surfer?

(LIP-jl) — Peruvian surfing sensation Sofia Mulanovich was recently nominated by the organizers of the Premios Joventud 2007 Awards, an awards ceremony held by United States Spanish language television network Univision.

The awards ceremony, which will be held in Miami next July 19, will award Latino celebrities from the realms of television, music, sports, and other entertainment.

Mulonavich, who has won numerous surfing events throughout her relatively young career, is nominated in the category of "Deportes de Alta Tension."

Among her competitors are: Mexican female golfer Lorena Ochoa (known at the Mexican Tiger Woods), Mexican female soccer star Maribel Dominguez, and Venezuelan race care driver Milko Duno.
