Police Units in “RED” Alert

4 days after the Police Movement “Justice and Dignity” announced a possible strike among the police forces, the situation has become even more complicated.

Yesterday at 8pm, the 13 territorial directions of the police throughout the country received a secret memorandum giving the order for maximum alert and to communicate with their superiors every 2 hours to report the situation of their agents.

The government is trying to avoid the strike and is promising a raise of 100 soles for 2006 and a bonus in these months.

In order to be prepared for the possible strike, the PNP has already given alert to the 150 captains who attended an internal police course to give support to the police stations. Other personnel such as cadets, officers and administrative staff are also under alert.
