Peru protest against Japan

The Peruvian Department of Foreign Affaires protested through a letter the "deep malaise" of the Peruvian Government, after declarations from the governor of Tokyo Shintaro Ishihara , who supports Fujimori’s attempt to participate in Peru’s presidential elections in 2006.

The letter was sent to the Embassy of Japan, here was stated that “Those declarations are an unacceptable interference with the internal affaires of Peru. This is even more serious considering that the Japanese government indicates the assumed Japanese nationality of Fujimori, and in the other hand and simultaneously, he is allowed to accomplish activities related to Peruvian politics(…) This is a manoeuvre to elude a judicial process". The communication was sent as well to the Japanese Ministery of Foreign Affaires.
