El Señor de los Milagros Procession Continues Through Lima, Peru

(LIP-ir) — With great faith and devotion, hundreds of worshipers accompanied the representation of Christ known as "El Señor de los Milagros" (The Lord of Miracles), as it exited Las Nazarenas Church this morning at 6 a.m.

Worshipers were not concerned with the cold weather or the early morning drizzle. Despite the discomforts, El Señor de los Milagros was not alone as it began its third procession through the streets of Peru’s capital. Its first stop was to be at the intersection of Tacna Avenue and Jirón Huancavelica.

Once the praised image arrived, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani celebrated a mass in honor of Cristo de Pachacamilla, as devoted followers applauded the venerated effigy and prayed for their miracles to be granted as a response to their faith.

After the liturgy, El Señor de los Milagros continued its trip down Tacna Avenue until it reached Santa Rosa Bridge, where it began its course to Lima, Peru’s main square. The Cristo Moreno was to be received by Peru’s President Alan Garcia, his council of ministers and other government authorities.

At noon, the procession is to make its way to the Archbishop Palace, where Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani will bless all of the loyal worshipers.

The praised image is to end its procession this evening at Nuestra Señora de La Victoria Church, located at the intersection of 28 de Julio Avenue and Iquitos Avenue.
