Peru has the 68th position in the classification of the Global Competitive Index 2005, a position below the one assigned by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The mentioned report compares the productivity index of 117 countries and emphasizes the achievements of our country in terms of direct external investment, technology transference, flexibility to set salaries and the increase of exports of private companies.
In general Latina America shows a back wards tendency in its competitive index’s in comparison with last year. Mexico (55), Brasil (65), Venezuela (89), Bolivia (101), Ecuador (103) and Paraguay (113) retrieved their positions. In the Latin countries Chile stands out with a positive position being the most competitive economy, having the best macro economic index’s of the world.
