Peru: Photo of the day – Brand new Arequipa and Petit Thouars Avenues

(LIP-ir) — The reconstruction of two of Lima’s main and most used avenues began at 6 a.m. today. The Municipality of Lima has begun the reconstruction of Arequipa Avenue (all 6 kilometers) as well as the complete reconstruction of Petit Thouars Avenue. It was reported that Arequipa Avenue would be made wider (from 5.7 meters to 6.3 meters) by eliminating unused gutters and not affecting sidewalk space. 34 of the avenues intersections will have traffic lights placed on them while others will be closed off to avoid u-turns. The Municipality has planned for the two avenues to be complete by October.
