The Chilean judge Orlando Alvarez denied former president Alberto Fujimori provisional freedom after being stopped and arrested in Santiago de Chile. This decision will prevent Fujimori from leaving the Escuela de Gendarmer?a, where he has been prisoned since last Monday.

Judge Alvarez took that decision as he must complete diverse tasks in this case and also wait for the formal extradition order from the Peruvian authorities.

Fujimori arrived Sunday to Santiago de Chile after five years of exile in Japan. Monday he was arrested by the Police of Investigations, who had a capture order for Fujimori issued by the Peruvian justice, who wants to take Fujimori to stand trial for several cases of corruption and violation against human rights
