Turkey demand rises as Christmas season approaches

With the holiday season just around the corner, local vendors are seeing the usual rise in turkey meat sales as consumers get ready to prepare traditional meals for the family.

Turkey meat sales during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve holiday in Peru will increase 41.6 percent over the same period last year, Peru’s Ministry of Agriculture (Minag) said on Thursday.

It is expected that more than a half million turkeys will be sold during these holidays.

The rise in turkey meat demand will help Peru to increase its exports to the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) countries by 22.2 percent.
