To celebrate the 474th anniversary of the foundation of Lima, the Municipality of Metropolitan Lima has planned a celebration that will be held for several days.

Using the theme "Lima Hoy" or "Lima Today", the Municipality of Lima will host a series of events that citizens across the country have been invited to attend without charge.

Among the municipalities three main events are "Delfín 2009" – homage to Victor Delfín, "Serenata a Lima" – a concert with well-known Peruvian artists and "Festival de oficios tradicionales" – an event held to spread information about the history of the capital.

By attending "Delfín 2009" participants will have a chance to see paintings, sculptures and gold work made by renowned artist Víctor Delfín.

Exhibitions will take place on January 14 and 15 at places such as Pancho Fierro Municipal Gallery, Pasaje Santa Rosa and el Paseo de los Escribanos in downtown Lima.

"Serenata a Lima" will take place on Saturday January 17 at 4 p.m. at the Plaza de Armas, where artists and groups such as Bareto, Damaris, Los Ardiles, Deyvis Orozco, Lucía de la Cruz and Fabiola de la Cuba among others will delight fans.

Mayor Luis Castañeda will also be present for a spectacular fireworks show.

Beautiful works made of wood, rock, stone and even plants will be set on display on January 17 and 18 at the Parque de la Muralla behind San Francisco church during the "Festival de oficios tradicionales" event.

All are invited to attend and learn about the talents rooted into the history of Limeans.
