Venezuela woman caught with 18 pounds of pure cocaine at Peru airport

Peru police have detained a Venezuelan woman attempting to smuggle pure cocaine out of Peru through Jorge Chavez International Airport.

It was reported that the 27-year-old woman, identified as Ingrid Karina Vargas, was attempting to smuggle 8.5 kilograms (18.7 pounds) of pure cocaine to Rome, Italy.

Vargas was arrested after she tried taking the cocaine out of the country by hiding it in quihuicha and oatmeal bags, said RPP news radio.

In an effort to get around x-ray, machines Vargas had wrapped the packages of cocaine in tin foil and placed them inside her suitcase in the oatmeal and quihuicha bags.
