Senior Peruvian officials met with a Chinese delegation here on Friday to discuss strategies and policies on fighting against poverty, in a meeting presided over by Peruvian Prime Minister Yehude Simon.
The meeting was aimed at reaching agreements for cooperating on rural area development and on meeting the basic needs of people in poverty.
The Chinese delegation was led by Fan Xiaojian, the chief of the Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development of the State Council of China.
Carlos Leyton, Peruvian minister of agriculture, and chief of the social program Ivan Hidalgo also were present at the meeting.
They analyzed the possibility of implementing projects for sustainable development in areas of extreme poverty.
The Peruvian government will announce on Monday preferential measures for the poorest sectors carried out through social programs.
