The South American Under-20 and Under-17 Championships scheduled for 2011 will be hosted by Peru and Ecuador, respectively, the Asuncion-based South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced on Tuesday.
The top-ranked teams of Peru’s tournament will qualify for the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia and for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The latest edition of South American U-20 Championship in 2009 was originally to be hosted by Peru, but the event was moved to Venezuela due to organizational problems.
Meanwhile, the Bolivian Football Federation assumed responsibility for organizing the next South American U-15 championship, while the South American Under-20 and Under-17 Women’s Football Championships might be hosted by Colombia and Ecuador, respectively; however this has not been confirmed yet.
