Peru: Junin’s region expects 8,000 tourists during cycling competition

Isabel Guerra

The Junin region expects to receive about 8,000 visitors during a cycling competition called “El reto de los misioneros” (The Missionary Challenge), which will take place during August 22nd and 23rd.

The main objective of this competition is to encourage sports in order to promote tourism.

“Central jungle is reserved in advance during weekends, that is why we believe that besides regular tourists we usually receive, more visitors will arrive to witness the competition,” she added.

First, cyclists will arrive to Moyobamba district, then to Vitoc, San Ramon and La Merced; then, they will depart from La Merced to Villa Rica district, and in the end (on the third day) they will return to San Ramon.

This program is part of a bigger strategy called “Junin all year”, implemented to face international crisis.
