Young Peruvian chess players awarded gold in Pan-American Youth Games

Again, Peruvian teens Jorge and Daisy Cori were awarded Gold Medals in the last Pan American Youth Games, held this time in Argentina.

Daysi Cori, winner of the U-16 Category, is the first Peruvian World GrandMaster (WGM) and the youngest one in South America, while her brother Jorge Cori (who is only 12) won the 18-Years category.

Peruvian Ingrid Aliaga won the in the Women’s U-18 category gold medal, after defeating chess players from Ecuador, Argentina, Venezuela and United States.

Other Peruvian chess players who had an outstanding performance were Diego Cuéllar, Gold Medal winner in the Men’s U-12 category, and Aurora Felix and Ann Chumpitaz in the Women’s Under 12 and 14 categories, respectively.
