Travel agency reports that over 50% of vacations to South America are for Peru alone.

RealWorldHolidays, a travel agency that specializes in South American vacations, has reported that of their 1310 bookings between 2011 and 2016, 52% of vacations have been solely for the country of Peru. Thus, the Andean country has received more visitors than Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador combined through this particular agency.

Even as Summer Olympics were in full swing in Brazil in 2016, Peru still counted more bookings. During 2016, Peru’s tourism revenues increased 3.9% as the total soared to US$4.303 billion over the course of the year.

It is important to note that the southern regions: Arequipa, Ica, Cuzco, and Puno for example; contributed to 85% of foreign visits in 2016, as reported by official Ministry statistics.
