TripAdvisor: Cusco hotel among top 25 in world

Can you guess which hotel in Peru was chosen for the site’s 2017 Travelers’ Choice Awards?

'œThe hotel and the rooms are beautiful and elegant…but it is the details that make it devine [sp]—-even down to extra oxygen in the rooms and coca tea on arrival to ease the high altitude.'

That’s how one TripAdvisor contributor describes their stay at the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas hotel in Cusco, Peru.

The luxurious hotel was recently ranked among the Top 25 Hotels in the World, according to TripAdvisor’s 2017 Travelers’ Choice Awards. With over 600 user reviews, the former palace and convent ranked 15 on this international list of hotels, but takes the number one spot in all of South America, not to mention was voted the best in Peru.

Despite it’s popularity, the hotel is a quiet retreat, set behind a calm plaza in Cusco city. Often the choice for couples and newly weds, the colonial building is noted to be quite romantic at night, with candlelight flickering against stone walls and across the courtyard’s pool.

While it doesn’t fit everyone’s budget, it’s a lot cheaper than flying to Hungary to stay at the world’s number one hotel: Aria Hotel by Library Hotel Collection in Budapest. To see the full list click here.
