Peru: 4.8 magnitude earthquake rattles Ica

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake shook Ica on Wednesday afternoon, according to Peru’s Geophysical Institute (IGP).

The earthquake, the IGP said, occurred at 5:48 pm, and its epicenter was located 30 kilometers beneath the surface, 74 kilometers southwest of the city of Ica.

On the Modified Mercalli Scale, the quake had an intensity of III degrees in Ica, and Pisco, and II degrees in Chincha, according to local radio RPP.

No injuries or damages were reported, according to the country’s Civil Defense.
