On Monday, a bus crash left 22 dead, and 19 others critically injured near Chiclayo.
According to El Comercio, a Civa bus fell down a 150-meter ravine, as it was driving near kilometer marker 35 of the Fernando Belaunde Terry highway on a route from Tarapoto to Chiclayo.
Three minors were among the casualties, the daily said. Reports did not specify if authorities knew what had caused the accident.
Injured passengers were taken to local hospitals, where many remain in critical condition.
Monday’s accident is the latest in a series of bus crashes that have left dozens dead this year.

In May, 19 people were killed after a bus drove off a cliff in Chachapoyas, and last month, 15 people died in a Cusco bus crash.
