Nicolas Fuchs won the 2012 Caminos del Inca Rally on Monday afternoon, with a total time of 17 hours 24 minutes and 7 seconds.

Fuchs- driving a Mitsubishi EVO IX – had been handed a 15-minute penalty during the rally, after kicking fellow racer Ronmel Palomino’s car.

However, Fuchs was able to retake the lead after Palomino was unable to continue due to lack of oil pressure, El Comercio reported.

Fuchs crossed the finish line about 26 minutes before runner up Jorge Martin in his Subaru Impreza STI.

Raul Orlandini, last year’s winner, finished in third place in his Mitsubishi EVO IX with a time of 18 hours 13 minutes and 22 seconds.

Monday’s victory was the second time Fuchs won the Caminos del Inca Rally, after his first place finish in 2009.
