0

This week employees at an Arequipa market were startled by a 2-meter long boa constrictor.

According to Peru21, workers at the Nueva Esperanza market spotted the boa constrictor – which weighed in at 4 kilograms – inside the building.

Police, the daily said, contacted the local environmental protection agency, in order for the snake to be taken to a zoo, where it would receive treatment and care.

Authorities said it was likely the boa constrictor – which usually inhabits regions such as Madre de Dios, Ucayali, and Cusco – had been brought to Arequipa to be sold as a pet or be put on display.
