The head coach of the Ecuadorian soccer team, Reinaldo Rueda, paid Peru high praise earlier this week when he told the media that Germany, the team his side will play an international friendly against tomorrow, has a strong attacking style like Peru will have when they play in Lima for the World Cup Qualifiers next month.
“Facing Germany is a benefit, it’s a way to gather our national team and play a very competitive match against a team with a great offensive, just like Peru will be as the home team,” Rueda said while at a press conference in Boca Raton.
The Ecuadorian coach also mentioned that in preparation for the Peruvian match, he would use his best players for the game with Germany: Christian Benitez, who won the Mexican championship with America; and Felipe Caicedo.
The last time Ecuador and Peru faced off was in 2011. Ecuador won that contest with a 2-0 final in Quito.
Peru will get a chance to payback their northerly neighbor by stealing three points on June 8th at the National Stadium in Lima. A loss by the Peruvian side would put them out of contention to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Ecuador´s national team offers high praise to his upcoming rival, Peru.
