Peru and Russia Celebrate 155 Years of Diplomatic Relations


Serguéi Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his Peruvian counterpart, Cayetana Aljovín, exchanged greeting messages this Wednesday due to the 155-year anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Peru.

Lavrov wrote on his message that the traditions of understanding and mutual respect that have developed among both countries constitute a solid base for the development of a diverse cooperation, beneficial for both countries.

According to a statement from the Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by Gestión, “the two countries have a similar position regarding many global matters”.
Among them, Lavrov outlined a political speech based on trust, effective mechanisms to coordinate bilateral relations in the international scenery; and commercial, economical, cultural, and humanitarian links in constant development among the nations.

For her part, Aljovín reaffirmed Peru’s intention to continue strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship and bilateral cooperation with Russia, which have reached a stage of strategic partnership. She also extended wishes of well-being and prosperity to the Russian people.
