Peru unveils design for new Nuevo Sol coin

Peru’s Central Reserve Bank (BCR) unveiled on Wednesday the design for a new Nuevo Sol coin, which commemorates the Inca Temple of Vilcashuamán in Ayacucho.

The new coin is part of the ‘Riches and Pride of Peru’ one sol series, which will feature 26 unique designs reflecting Peru’s history and traditions, Peru21 reported.

The BCR said it will mint 10 million soles featuring the Temple of Vilcashuamán design.

The Central Bank previously issued coins with designs bearing the Golden Tumi, the Karajia Sarcophagi, the Estela de Raimondi, the Chullupas of Sillustani, Machu Picchu, the Monastery of Santa Catalina, the Saywite Stone, the Great Pajaten, and the Real Felipe Fortress.
