Peruvian Minister of Finance Luis Miguel Castilla has been named the best finance minister in Latin America, in a recent ranking published by America Economica.

The ranking, quoted in Peru21, placed Castilla at the top, followed by Chile’s Felipe Larrain, and Colombia’s Juan Carlos Echeverry, who led the ranking in 2011, and resigned last August.

Castilla is Peru’s second finance minister to lead the ranking after Luis Carranza received the honor in 2007, during the government of President Alan Garcia, the daily said.

The magazine had previous ranked Castilla >third best in Latin America.

Last October Castilla was named Latin America’s Finance Minister of the Year by London-based magazine Emerging Markets, who cited Peru’s solid economic stability.

Late last year Castilla was also named the third most influential person in Peru, behind President Ollanta Humala and First Lady Nadine Heredia.
