The Peruvian Olympic delegation has arrived in Russia for the 22nd Olympic Winter Games to be held in Sochi.
The Andean nation will be represented by its Olympic ski team make up of Roberto Carcelen and the Oettl Reyes siblings Ornella and Manfred, who also competed at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games
Cross country skier Carcelen, 43-year-old, achieved his Olympic aspiration after earning the fifth place in the 2013 South American Cross Country Championships, which took place in August, in Entre Rios, Argentina.
Meanwhile, Ornella and Manfred are set to compete in the Alpine Skiing category and Slalom section, respectively.
Peru’s Olympic ski team, which is in the Russian city of Sochi to tussle with the world’s best, are the first Peruvian athletes to ever compete in the winter games.
The major international event is expected to bring together more than 2,500 top athletes representing 88 countries who will be competing for a place on the victory podium.
The Sochi Olympic Games will open on February 7 and closes on February 23. Along the way, 30 Olympic medals will be distributed among male and female skiers.Peru’s Olympic team of three skiiers have arrived in Sochi Russia, for the games.
