Peru’s national police seized 180 alleged human skulls used in black magic rituals by a healer in the center of Lima.
Officer Carlos Gomez told The Associated Press that they were currently investigating which cemetery the skulls came from.
The alleged healer was identified as 31-year-old Augusto Cisneros.
Gomez explained that "never before have so many skulls been seized." He said Cisneros charged the equivalent of between 18 and 37 dollars for consultations regarding the financial, love or health problems of his customers.
According to police, the room where the skulls were found had an altar on which the rituals were carried out.
Police also found boxes with incense as well as others labeled "land of the dead", land that is said to be taken from cemeteries.
Under Peruvian law these acts are punishable by three to six years imprisonment for those who’ve made "insult to the memory of the dead" particularly when "for profit, organs or bodies are bought, sold, imported, exported, or transported."
Man used skulls and charged 18 to 37 dollars for consultations regarding the financial, love or health problems of his customers.
