Peru’s soccer team drops in FIFA ranking

Peru’s national soccer team has dropped 4 spots on FIFA’s world ranking, just days before the team is scheduled to face Venezuela in a qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Peru is currently ranked 51st, with 587 points, one spot ahead of Venezuela, local radio RPP reported.

Spain remained on the number one spot on the FIFA ranking, followed by Germany, England, Portugal, and Uruguay.

Next Tuesday Peru will face Argentina – a team that remains 7th on the list, with 1121 points.

Last July Peru climbed 5 spots on the world ranking, despite losing its last 2 World Cup qualifying matches.

The national team is currently last on the regional ranking for the 2014 World Cup, with only 3 points.
