Peruvian footballer Andy Polo has signed with Italian club Internazionale Milano, known outside of the country as Inter Milan.
Polo, who is a mere 19 years old, currently plays for Universidad San Martin. He has previously played for Universitario de Deportes.
According to El Comercio, sources have been unable to tell press exactly how long Polo’s new contract lasts. However, the newspaper reports that an inside source indicated that it’s a relatively short contract intended to allow Inter Milan to see Polo’s abilities up close and test him in real game circumstances before signing him for a long-term deal with the team.
Polo has been playing professionally since the age of 16.
El Comercio reports that it is unlikely that Polo will play with the Inter Milan main team right away. He will probably spend some time playing with their youth team.
The newspaper reports that Inter Milan has been “watching him for a long time,” and team executives even made a visit to Lima to watch him play with Universidad San Martin.
Inter Milan was founded in 1908, and is the only Italian club team to have played in the country’s top level for its entire existence. 19-year-old forward has been signed to Italian team for an undisclosed fee.
