Peruvian skater makes podium in Quito

Eighteen-year-old Peruvian underground sensation Martín “Walón” Saavedra has been making a name for himself in the skateboarding scene around South America.

This weekend he represented his country in Quito, Ecuador with a second place finish in the La Roca Championship. With the podium appearance he was crowned South American sub-champion in his discipline.

Walón has been busy this season, earning a first-place finish in the Dunkevolk Copa Real Club in February and a second-place finish at the New Athletic Championship in March. He also finished third earlier in the year at a tournament in Chanchay, Peru.

The kid originally from Magdalena del Mar in Lima is currently sponsored by Dunkelvolk, a Peruvian clothing and sports gear brand closely associated with action sports.

It looks like this talented Peruvian athlete has a bright future ahead of him.
