Peruvian soccer star to play his last match in Lima before moving to Europe

Yordy Reyna will play tonight against Sporting Cristal in what will be his final match in Peru. After the game he is flying to Europe to sign with FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. The 19-year-old nicknamed, “The Comet”, dreams of saying farewell to his Peruvian fans with a victory at home.

Reyna was not expected to play tonight because of contractual limitations with his new club, but it was announced earlier today that the Austrian side gave Reyna the thumbs to wear the blue and white of Alianza one more time.

“Reyna is on the 19-man roster for tonight’s game,” his Alianza Lima coach, Wilmar Valencia, told El Comercio. “We don’t know how much he will play because of the transfer agreement.”

The Austrian club later gave the green light for Reyna to compete for 45 minutes, if needed.

“I hope to celebrate a victory with all of the blue and white fans,” Reyna told the press this morning.

Alianza Lima is currently in fifth position on the Peruvian League table with 31 points. Cristal is in second with 33.

Alianza has not lost since week 15 of the domestic league.
