Juana Burga is presently Peru’s most internationally sought after model. Her Instagram account is testament to her globetrotting status. One day she’s in Paris, another in Cusco, and the next in Barcelona.
And the projects she embarks on are just as diverse.
Juana can go from hitting the runways at the four fashion weeks of the world– New York, Paris, London, and Milan – to gracing the cover of major magazines like Conde Nast Traveler Spain (December 2014), and starring in the latest L’Oreal Paris ‘Live In Color’ hair dye campaign
Designing a capsule clothing collection is the latest project the model can add to her already impressive list. She and Peruvian ethical fashion brand AYNI have partnered to create a limited edition collection of knits and 70s-inspired pieces.
The collaboration is a match made in fashion heaven, with both parties invested in promoting sustainable fashion and the exceptional work of Peruvian artisans in the production of alpaca knitwear. The results speak for themselves.
The Juana Burga x AYNI fall/winter ’15-’16 collection features a soft color palette ranging from blush pinks, pastel creams, to burgundy, teal, and blood orange. The oversized, richly textured knitwear is accented with retro silhouettes in suede. Take the above ensemble: sexy knee-high boots paired with hot pants and a fringy loop cardigan perfect for lounging glamorously.
There’s no denying suede is having a grand comeback. The groovy vibes from the 70s can now be achieved by pairing buttery-soft suede flared pants with an alpaca fur collar/vest and turtleneck. It’s that easy, breezy.

And it is that effortlessly chic appeal that the collection emanates. Nothing says ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’ (refer to LMFAO song) like a chunky, alpaca bolero sweater sliding off your shoulder, just as Juana shows us in the above image.

We’re positive this cropped boucle-textured sweater will also do the trick.
One of my favorite pieces from the collection? This absolutely irresistible plush alpaca clutch in a perfect dusty rose color.
Having spent many, many hours modeling and surrounded by beautiful clothes, Juana has developed a keen eye for style and aesthetic beauty. While she is the face of the collection’s campaign, she was also hands on when styling the lookbook.
Simplicity and quality are the foundations of this versatile and refined collection. The duo behind the AYNI brand, Adriana Cachay and Laerke Skyum, are currently taking the collection on a trade show tour starting in Paris, then London, Las Vegas, New York and finally Peru Moda in April. Visit ayni.ws for information of where the collection will be available. Juana Burga, an internationally featured model from Peru, plans to dress the runways.
