The Public Ministry’s preliminary investigation is against the companies related to PPK, such as First Capital, Latin American Enterprise, Westfield Capital, among others.
The President of the Republic, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, will offer his statement today to the Special Team of the Public Ministry as a witness for the preliminary investigation opened to companies linked to his name.
The inquiries touch upon First Capital, Latin American Enterprise and possibly Westfield Capital for the payments they obtained from the Odebrecht construction company. These last two, it is worth noting, are directly related to PPK.
The team of prosecutor Hamilton Castro will move to the Government Palace to perform the corresponding diligence. Last week the Public Ministry reported that the interrogation will begin at 09:30 a.m.
As recalled, Odebrecht informed the Lava Jato Commission of the Congress that between 2005 and 2013 it paid for advisory services to First Capital (a little more than US$ 4 million) and between 2004 and 2007 it paid a total of US$ 782 thousand to Westfield (unipersonal company of Kuczynski) for the same concept.
The current President was Minister of Economy and Prime Minister during the government of Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006). As a result of these charges, he is questioned that his company had received payments from the Brazilian construction company during this time, although he claims that his partner Gerardo Sepúlveda was the one who took care of everything.
