Valery Rozov BASE jumps from the pinnacle of Mt. Huascaran at over 6,700 meters (22,000 ft) above sea level, becoming the 1st person to ever do this from Peru’s highest peak.
At more than 6,700 meters (22,000 feet), Huascarán Sur is Peru’s highest peak.
Russian BASE jumper Valery Rozov, 52, launched himself from the peak of Mt. Huascarán in the province of Yungay, a region of Ancash, Peru.
Huascarán is considered a very challenging climb due to varying weather conditions and large crevasses.
Mountaineers disappear every year in attempts to climb the peak. Even a veteran like Rosov took 5 days to reach his objective. Upon reaching the pinnacle, Rosov soared for 2,000 meters down before safely landing and concluding yet another successful wingsuit flight for the renowned BASE jumper.
It is the 1st time in history that anyone has done this from Peru’s highest mountain.
