The National Court of Spain decided to extradite former Peruvian judge César Hinostroza since the country is claiming him for corruption offenses.
The National Court of Spain will deliver Hinostroza to Peru to be tried “for crimes of illegal sponsorship, influence peddling and incompatible negotiation of the Peruvian Penal Code,” Sputnik News informed.
In addition, this media said that the National Court decided to reject the arguments put forward by Hinostroza and his lawyers to oppose extradition.
“At the extradition hearing, Hinostroza’s defense alleged that his client was a victim of political persecution and also stated that the state of Peruvian prisons is incompatible with guaranteeing the safety and dignity of his client”, Sputnik News wrote. However, his defense can appeal the extradition.
In June 2018, journalistic investigations discovered, through leaked telephone conversations, the existence of a large-scale mafia called Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto, which was composed of judges, prosecutors, politicians and businessmen.
