Special offer: Free taxi service, no strings attached

As I mentioned in one of my past newsletters, every once in a while we receive an attractive offer that I find benefits those of you that live in or visit Lima from time to time.

I started using UBER over a year ago, when they didn’t have very many cars and it was a hassle getting an UBER vehicle within 5-10 minutes. About six months ago, more and more cars joined UBER and now I use them 8-10 times a week, which has shown to be a great alternative to having a second car – or choosing any other taxi service, for that matter.

Every day I travel from San Isidro to Miraflores and back, which would cost me about S./ 7-8 if I took a street cab. By using UBER I pay around S./ 8-9, one or two soles more, but with the guarantee of a clean car, a polite driver and security. With UBER, I know who is picking me up, which route we’re taking and the company is aware of the vehicle’s location at all times. An extra bonus is that I don’t have to interrupt the traffic to stop a taxi and negotiate the fare, as all the fares are calculated by the app and all payments are with credit card, so I never have to worry about cash.

I always ask the driver how long they have been driving and how the UBER app is working for them. So far I haven’t met anyone who was unhappy working with UBER, in particular because they and their families feel much safer as they know who they are picking up and they don’t have to drive around with cash.

We made a deal with UBER so you can try their services too. Sign up and get 2 free trips worth S./ 20 each. All you need to do is download the UBER app, enter your promo code LIVINGPERU15 and request your private car.

No strings attached and you can unsubscribe anytime you want. For me it is like having my own private car and driver.

Next time you go to a party, a family lunch or just to the movies, leave the car at home, avoid the traffic and parking hassle, and don’t worry about whether you take an extra drink that evening. Your driver will take you home safely.
