More than half of the people in the United States have traveled alone or would do so if the opportunity arose.
Lonely Planet recently published an article citing a research from YouGov where they say that 66% of the people who live in this country have traveled by themselves. “What inspires people to set out on their own? The number one reason is wanting to the freedom to make their itinerary without having any input from other people”, this website said.
Then, another reason that follows solo traveling is that people find it easier to relax when they are alone. “32% say traveling alone makes them feel more independent”, the post continues, and of course, when someone is on their own they can pretty much do whatever they want to do.
Some solo travelers also say that being on the road by themselves boosts their confidence. “However, there are certain types of travel that are better suited to going it alone. More than half, 57%, say they’d like to take a trip to another US city alone, while 50% say they would take a road trip”, Lonely Planet said.
Nevertheless, beaches are not places that people seem to enjoy without company. And as for safety, 57% believe it makes them feel unsafe and 51% would get lonely during a solo trip.
