This Thursday will be the final decision in Paolo Guerrero’s case.
Paolo Guerrero seeks to reduce the length of his suspension before FIFA. If he does not achieve it, he will go to the TAS (Court of Sports Referees). The Peruvian striker’s lawyers remain hopeful regarding the situation.
It was Paolo who announced that the outcome would be known this coming Thursday. However, historically it seems like FIFA tends to maintain their sanctions regardless of the proof and arguments presented. As revealed by UOL Esporte (the club for which Paolo plays), in case the result is not favorable for the player his defense has planned to go to the Court of Sports Referees (TAS / CAS) in January.
It is important to note that Guerrero’s environment provides that the ruling is favorable to his cause, according to the report. Thus, they expect or a good result in the TAS or at least a reduction of the penalty. It should be remembered that Guerrero was suspended for one year by FIFA, since November his sanction. If this punishment is sustained, he will miss the 2018 World Cup with the national team.
It is worth mentioning that although Peru finally qualified for the World Cup, it has not been only roses for the team since they have had to face other problems along with Paolo’s suspension. The FPF has been fined repeatedly throughout the qualifying process as well.
