National Geographic just added Machu Picchu as a virtual reality destination in its Oculus Quest app.
Sure, it can’t replace the real experience but wouldn’t it be great to go through the citadel’s passageways right in your own living room? And for $9.99. National Geographic thinks so. Through its app, National Geographic Explore VR, the network wants to bring people closer to the wonders of the world through virtual reality. Antartica was first, now users can explore Machu Picchu.
If you have an Oculus Quest, you can set off on an adventure to the ancient citadel, starting off at the Inca Trail. A local guide will talk you through the history and culture of the Incas. Virtual reality imagery will revive the citadel to show how mummies were buried and with what tools and objects. You will also see llamas roaming about the ancient citadel.
