Pisco 1615: A pisco made to celebrate empowered women

Share

Pisco 1615 has created a pisco made to celebrate women by featuring Ana Francisco de Borja y Doria, Peru’s first governor, on the label.

Celebrating women in a creative way

As March celebrates women, it was clever for Pisco 1615 to create pisco specifically to celebrate women. the CEO of Bodega San Nicolás stated, “Celebrating women with this new line of Pisco 1615 commemorates the fundamental role of women in the Pisco industry and in Peru in general. Its essence reflects the best vintages of our pisco, unique in its kind, seeking to merge the special of its content with the election of Ana Francisca Borja y Doria, the first governess in Peru as the main face of this new line of high-end and limited edition”, Raúl Otero, proudly emphasized.

Who was Ana Francisca de Borja y Doria?

Ana Francisca de Borja y Doria, was the first female authority in Peru. She devoted, intelligent, fair, elegant, cunning and with a lot of personality. As governor of Peru, she was a lady with a lot of rattlesnake and more mettle than Toledo steel, just like our vines, says Otero.

“We are proud that it is part of our #LimitedEdition bottle. We have created #piscosqueemocionan. Find out more about these high-end piscos that definitely place our flagship distillate in the world’s big leagues”, introduced the CEO.

The different labels

  1. GREEN MUST ALBILLA – HARVEST 2013
Coming from a super select and limited harvest, with only 450 Albilla grape plants. It took 8 years of aging for our Mosto Verde Albilla to achieve its maximum expression of nobility and aroma.
  2. MOSTO VERDES ACHOLATE – HARVEST 2013, 2018, 2019
We have gathered our green musts for storage, from the harvests where each strain was best expressed, and we have meticulously blended them to achieve a pisco that excites.
  3. PURE QUEBRANTA – VINTAGE 2006
One of the first piscos we make. After 15 years of rest, we show the Quebranta in its authentic expression, full-bodied, but at the same time elegant.
  4. PURE ALBILLA – VINTAGE 2014
This Pure Albilla, aged for 7 years and grapes from our best vineyards, represents our interpretation of Pisco: A spirit with soul, flavor and nobility.

Tasting Pisco 1615

When I had the chance to try Pisco 1615, it was at the event hosted by Pisco 1615 in LA MAR-iposario (a fantastic butterfly garden venue located on La Mar in Miraflores). There were three women bartenders who created six different cocktails with the pisco. However, it was hard to compare it to other piscos through a cocktail. So I went to try it by itself. You always know if it’s great pisco if it goes down smoothly without a burn. And in this case, there was no burn at all, in fact, it was likely the smoothest pisco I’ve ever had.

Pisco Cocktails

In Peru, there are two common cocktails that everyone loves to drink: a chilcano (a sweeter drink with ginger ale) and a pisco sour (the ultimate classic cocktail). However, there are so many other great flavors you can play with to make your pisco more fun. The ladies at the event created six different cocktails from floral flavors to sour candy, to tropical pineapple, and more.

What would you prefer? To choose a classic Peruvian cocktail or create a fun one that fits your taste?
