As of March 31, this year, Avianca Peru will suspend its flights to Trujillo, Juliaca and Puerto Maldonado.

Through a statement they announced that “the decision was made after the company performed an analysis of the results related to the profitability of the routes, growth projection and sales”, Semana Económica informed on their website.

According to the statement, the company will focus more on potentializing the international connectivity from and to Peru.

“The advantage we have in our service stands out better in the international market because they are longer routes, compared to short flights in the domestic market,” said Nissim Jabiles, general director of Avianca Peru and Ecuador.

In addition, they said that they will continue to operate the route Lima-Cusco with 25 weekly flights.

“For Avianca, Peru is and will be a market of great importance. For this reason, we decided to optimize the domestic routes network and thus improve our international offer in the country”, Jabiles said.

Those passengers that will be affected because of the suspension of the routes will be notified by Avianca.
