Peru took over the sea sports in the 2019 edition of the Pan American Games taking place in Lima. In this opportunity, three gold medals were obtained in different sports and now the country has collected eight so far.
Benoit Clemente, in “longboard”, Daniella Rosas, in women’s “open surf”, and Luca Messinas, in men’s, achieved gold medals, while the silvers went to Vania Torres and Tamil Martino and María Fernanda Reyes.
Peru’s high-competitive surfers demonstrated, according to Depor, that Peruvians know all there is to know about this discipline. By placing a finalist in all of the categories of the sport is already an “extraordinary merit”, the website wrote.
“On Sunday morning, August 4, Kimberly García gave Peru more joy after achieving second place in the 20km athletic march at the 2019 Pan American Games Lima”, said Depor. After concluding the race after one hour, 29 minutes, she arrived just after the Colombian Sandra Arena who finished at one hour, 28 minutes and 3 seconds.
So far, the United States remain first with 132 medals won so far, 54 of them gold. Brazil follows with 72 medals, of which 22 are gold. Peru is in the eighth place in the medal ranking with 23 medals: 7 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze.
