According to the Global Entertainment & Media Outlook study, prepared by PwC, Internet access in Peru will grow at 5.2% annually by 2023.
This growth rate is approximately 1% less than the regional, said Perú 21. “Chile would lead the growth with a rate of 7.42%, followed closely by Argentina with 7.4%”, they added.
As for the demand for mobile Internet in the country, Peru has grown significantly in recent years because of the wider use of smartphones.
“Operators are expanding 4G coverage, and LTE acceptance is growing rapidly. However, the dominant technology is still WCDMA, with more than 60% of mobile connections in Peru in 3G”, the study by PwC said.
Chile, who is the leader in the region, is expected to reach 70% of mobile Internet penetration by 2023. The country has also been growing in investment in fiber-optic networks and 4G infrastructure.
In Peru, Peru is not expected to obtain 5G until 2021 but this technology is still advancing slowly in the region, said Perú 21.
